Our story

In The Early 1980s, on a trip to meet the parents of his girlfriend, Don Roberto made a discovery that would change his life and mark the beginning of Inka Gold. The discovery came during dinner at one of the finest restaurants in Deidesheim. Don Roberto was surprised to see that the most expensive item on the menu was spargel (fresh white asparagus). There was a natural supply deficit for this scarce, seasonal vegetable and Don Roberto knew that Peru had an enormous advantage as it could export asparagus 12 months a year.

After years of building a successful asparagus trading business, Don Roberto turned his attention from acopio (trading) to organic farming and specifically to the area just North of Trujillo, in the desert lands of Paijan, Over time, Don Roberto and his technical team had come to learn many of the ancient farming techniques that date back thousands of years. Many of these derive from the Mochica Indians, an agricultural society that was prevalent in the Trujillo area back in 700 AD. They had developed advanced irrigation techniques that utilized a series of canals to divert river water in order to supply their crops. They also had developed many other agrarian techniques used for soil preparation and cultivation in an area that had little rainfall and difficult soils.

By combining these ancient techniques with modern science, Inka Gold has become one of the leading organic asparagus farms in the world. It is our PASSION FOR ORGANICS that brings you only the best produce and a quality that only merits the INKA GOLD ORGANICS brand.
